Why Smokin’ Oak? Well for one, oak is a common wood used in wood-fired smokers. But secondly, and more importantly, the mighty oak tree is our family crest. So, I guess in a way, you could say we were always destined to barbecue.

Let us introduce ourselves. We are Matt and Heather, and we are barbecue caterers and creators based in the heart of the Waikato.
We are proud 2023 winners of TVNZ’s Cooks on Fire television program.
We are also multiple barbecue grand championship winners and 2022 National Reserve Grand Champions. We know what great barbecue is and we are passionate about sharing our love of barbecue with you.
